Our new Injection Data Sharing Option (IDS) enables the exchange of injection data with the digital radiology infrastructure. The CANopen interface synchronizes wirelessly between injector and CT scanner.
Both are tools that optimize workflows in radiology environments. Here we explain in more detail the resulting advantages.
On the MEDTRON YouTube channel you can find a recent video on how IDS and CANopen work.
Interface CANopen
CANopen (Control Area Network) is an interface that allows various computer-controlled machines to work together. Medical devices, such as CT scanners, use CANopen DP 425. This interface provides for the transmission of the injection profile (volume, contrast concentration, flow rate, etc.) and the synchronized execution of the injection ("start" and "stop").
Since CANopen is manufacturer specific, each CT scanner manufacturer (Siemens, GE, Philips) uses its own "CANopen dialect".
MEDTRON offers CANopen interfaces to all well-known CT scanner manufacturers, e. g. CANopen Interface Class IV for communication of the Accutron® CT-D with the CT scanners of various manufacturers.
Software Option IDS
MEDTRON's new software option IDS (Injection Data Sharing), based on the DICOM standard, links the injection report with the patient data. Through IDS, users can directly access the modality worklist (patient worklist) stored in RIS using the injector. Once the examination is complete, the injection report (as a DICOM dataset) is automatically linked to the associated patient data and stored in PACS as structured report, secondary capture or ePDF. The Accutron® CT-D Vision can already be equipped with this option.
Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM)
DICOM is an internationally recognized, standardized data format for displaying, storing, retrieving and sharing medical images. In addition to the image, a DICOM dataset contains additional meta-information, such as the patient's name, age and gender, information about the medical professional, device parameters, and properties of the medical image (file type, size and creation date).
Radiology Information System (RIS)
The RIS is the central administration and documentation software in radiology, connected to the hospital's IT network. All radiological processes from the recording of patient master data, scheduling and execution to evaluation and reporting are controlled here.
The modality worklist generated in RIS (patient worklist) can be called up via IDS.
Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS)
PACS manages, processes, and archives image and examination data generated and acquired by imaging equipment and machines in the hospital's IT network in compliance with legal requirements. The data is stored in DICOM standard and sent to the PACS server. All reporting, viewing, and post-processing workstations have access to this data.
Your Sales Area Manager will be happy to answer any further questions you may have about IDS and CANopen.
The primary task of pressure control is to ensure the integrity of the patient. This important safety function of our injection control software ensures that the injection pressure - by adapting the flow rate - does not exceed the set limit and that the examination can be performed smoothly.
Consumables such as syringes, tubing systems or catheters have a limited pressure resistance. The respective limit value is determined by the maximum permissible pressure of the catheter according to the manufacturer's specifications.
By default, the pressure control on our Accutron® injectors is set to "maximum". The healthcare professional can manually reduce the pressure if the manufacturer's specifications for the consumable stipulate this.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about the "pressure control" safety function or the corresponding consumables.
